MOTION MEDIA.

Even from a young age, I found myself experimenting with my creativity, from creating stop motion videos with LEGO figures, to using an X-Acto knife to design duct tape wallets. I have always strived to tell stories through a variety of different forms of media, and that still applies to me today as a graphic designer. While my primary focus as a creative is with graphic design, I have found that motion media design is another area that I strive to improve and challenge myself with.

Using my professional knowledge of design in combination with my general interest in video media, I have been able to craft a handful of animations that help tell stories in simple and effective ways while guiding the viewers through with nicely paced visuals. Motion media is an important part of my identity as a designer, as it allows me to bring ideas to life in a way that is easy to understand, all while being designed appropriately.

WHERE IS THE SUNSHINE?

This piece takes an abstract approach at telling a simple narrative about an individual who falls victim to social media addiction. Follow the downward spiral into the eventual salvation of someone who had been slowly losing control. Different aspects of the narrative are portrayed by various visual motifs, such as organic shapes and collage elements.

The Emotional Life of A Square

The goal of this animation was for me to challenge myself to portray a list of emotions using something as plain and boring as a square. Throughout this piece, our main square-acter is brought to life through detailed and expressive movement, as well as the detailed settings in which he travels through.

Life Will Change: Onomatopoeia Animation

The main challenge for this animation was to create a well paced lyric video for a song that has no lyrics! Using only the onomatopoeias from the instruments of this song from the game Persona 5, this video takes you through the first leg of the musical composition and will have you singing words that don’t even exist!

Whenever You See A Tree

Using the poem written by Padma Venkatraman, this animation takes place within a scrapbook setting filled with tree related images as the narration takes you through the thought process of what a tree has to go through to become grown. This animation focuses on showcasing animated type and animated camera movement in a 3D space.
