POSTERS & FAILURE

In 2023, I started my first full time job in the industry. While being a professional designer has been a rewarding experience, I found myself craving more than what I was able to accomplish in my professional work. I need to experiment, I need to try new things, I need to refine old things, and I need to not be afraid to screw up and make something that looks horrible. That’s why, in early 2023, I decided I would commit to creating one digital poster each week to post on my Instagram account. And now, over a year later, I can proudly say that I completely failed the challenge! I made it 39 weeks into the challenge before I called it quits. 39 total posters, plus some extras.

I’m not upset that I failed the challenge. Though my main goal was not meant, I saw my personal styles really develop, and I think that’s the biggest accomplishment I could have asked for. I found myself constantly searching for inspiration, constantly experimenting, and constantly learning more techniques to get the results I desired. Looking at my first few weeks of the challenge versus the final few weeks, the level of improvement is incredibly obvious to me. I’m very proud of how I grew as an artist, and how I learned to express my thoughts and feelings through digital art. Nothing builds more character than failure. Below are my five favorite posters that I created during the challenge.
